The media at large has fundamentally failed to take on the complexity of designers' work or depict the results intelligently. Walk-through articles overlook the painstaking study and expertise required to create stunning yet workable living spaces, while formulaic layouts and wide-angle imagery make yacht interiors look like furniture showrooms and ignore the detail and quality that is so implicit in the unique design of superyacht interiors.

Inspired by the acronym IDEAS (Interiors, Design, Exteriors, Architecture and Space), SuperyachtDesign is our response to this woolly journalism and inadequate coverage. It is a multi-faceted print, event and digital platform that provides a network of information and insight into the world of large yacht design. It educates and informs those who need to stay in touch with what's happening in the world of design, while providing an interactive showcase of the latest and greatest projects from the wealth of talent that drives our industry forward. We are not afraid to probe and challenge designers, when doing so provides transparency and fresh insight into how they go about successfully translating the desires of their clients. In addition, we look closely at the world of the suppliers, the subcontractors and the artisans who work in harmony with the creative minds to turn concepts into three-dimensional realities.

Our aim is to explore the process of design itself, rather than simply the end results. So we have divided the yacht into distinct zones according to function, which combined with in-depth analysis of materials and processes, tackle the many technical and aesthetic challenges that have to be collectively resolved in order to produce a successful design.

We are fortunate enough to work in a constantly evolving industry that is responsible for building some of the most remarkable examples of human ingenuity, engineering and enterprise. The aim of this publication is to do that industry justice.
